Home Theater with Wireless Rears + Subwoofer

To complement the Sony SA-RS5 wireless rear speakers with built-in rechargeable batteries, Sony offers two wireless subs which are compatible with their STR-AN1000 7.2-channel home theater receiver and their high-end ES (Elevated Standard) receivers (as well as their latest sound bars). I recommend the more powerful SA-SW5 model which is the better of the two.

The Sony SA-SW5 wireless subwoofer can be placed anywhere in the room where it is convenient and/or sounds best that is also located near an AC outlet for power. Dimensions are 10.9″ wide, 16.1″ high, 16.6″ deep, and weighs about 29 pounds. It features a front-firing 7.1″ woofer with a passive radiator and is ported on the bottom. 130 watts RMS and 300 watts peak.

To complete your 5.1 surround sound system, you will also need three more speakers for the front left, center channel, and front right. The Sony STR-AN1000 receiver is compatible with speakers of 6 or 8Ω impedance. I highly recommend that you use speakers from the same brand and matching series if possible to experience the most cohesive front sound stage for your home theater system. You should assume that you will also need to separately supply or buy speaker wire to connect the front three speakers to the receiver.
